JOA

JOA is the artist project of 22-year-old Johanna Skippervold from Oslo, creating emotionally precise, melody-driven pop rooted in Nordic songwriting traditions. Her music moves seamlessly between intimate, stripped-down moments and expansive pop production, always carried by a distinctive vocal and a strong sense of honesty.

Following her debut EP Previous Problems and the single “A Little Kinder” (A-listed on NRK P3 and P1), JOA returned with Feelings You Don’t Say Out Loud in 2026. The EP explores unspoken thoughts through a quiet but emotionally sharp lens, with all tracks playlisted on NRK P3 and the focus track “Feel Sorry” named Track of the Week.

She has collaborated with producers and writers including Vetle Junker (AURORA), Dan McDougall (Liam Gallagher), Anton Engdahl (Newkid, Thomas Stenström), Fanny Avonne, Cato & Kent Sundberg (Donkeyboy), Flatmate (Peder Elias), and George Glew (Keir, Connor Byrne).

May 29th JOA released ‘Ghost of us’, produced by Dan McDougall. This is the first single from her upcoming EP, set for release fall of 2026. JOA is currently signed to Made Management, Playground Music, FKP Scorpio (the nordics) and Kobalt Music Publishing.
